Venice in winter is the best. It’s haunted and haunting. The emptiness of the city amplifies its unnatural nature. The reflections on the water distort reality. As if beyond every corner there could be something not quite of this world. It’s achingly beautiful and absolutely breathtaking.
A favorite thing to do after walking the dark dreamlike winter streets is tuck into a fancy hotel or historic palazzo for a little warmth and if only everyday. Opulent and inviting. The elegance only matched by the exceptional service. To escape into a different kind of dream, and this one with drinks! Venice excels at sophisticated and surreal. A city after my own heart.
